Note to self: It's amazing to me how doing something physical can change my mood, clears my head, as I sweat it out. Being out in nature doesn't hurt either.
Sometimes I feel like I'm rushing to get in under the wire.

Beginnings, quick little goauche color studies from the trail.

Paths

I've been hiking a lot lately, mostly going to the same spot over and over again. First I stuck to the main path, and then slowly, I started venturing out to the more obscure trails, almost trying to get lost, and definitely trying to avoid people and get to places that make me forget that I'm in the city. The strange thing is the more I go on these trails, the more they open up to me. I start to see the paths that I missed early on. A metaphor for life maybe...

It's strange how things open up when you put yourself into a certain state of mind....commit and take a leap of faith and everything seems to work out.

The best of the city series...

Anybody know this guy?? He wrote the notorious " Kitchen Confidential", He's easily one of my favorite people on television, travels around the world trying everything that makes a country unique. I just found out I get some cable stations with my antenna?? And he has a show called "No Reservations" on the travel channel, Good stuff, makes me want to travel.

Also check out "Diary of a Foodie" on PBS, this show has as much to do with the creative process as anything out there.
Ahhh the good old days....

More Wanderings

I've just started regularly going out a hiking in the Baltimore area, mostly at Robert E. Lee Park (I keep telling everybody that Baltimore's a southern town but most people don't believe me)but I just made it out to Gunpowder Falls and it blew my mind... amazing, vast, and unexpected. When I first came out to the east coast my perception was that there wouldn't be that much nature out here, but I was wrong, it's just different. I've seen some amazing sights and terrain that is again...unexpected. What I can't get over though, which is a big difference between west and east is how much people litter here...
It drives me nuts to see trash on the trail, Starbucks cups, empty bottles, wrappers, beer bottles, bags filled with dog poop tied to trees, you get the gist... Why people can't cart that stuff out with them as they go is a mystery to me.

Wandering

I've come to the conclusion that I have a pretty wandering nature, both in my head and outside it.
