Boston Trip

The grad students all (there's only 7 in the program) took a trip into Boston on Friday to check out the galleries on Newbury St. (the area for the more established galleries in Boston), it was a great day, and then we ended it getting to know the art faculty and having dinner at a professor's loft in Boston. Things are starting off well with school.

Two of the many galleries that we hit, we were supposed to do research about artists we were interested in and ask them to pull them for viewing. It worked really well and we saw a lot of great art.







We finished with the ICA, which has an amazing view of Boston harbor.

Moving occupies your mind

So I've been absent of late, I'm moving to New Hampshire at the end of the month, and I'm getting caught up with all that entails. House hunting, sorting, packing, and saying my goodbyes to Baltimore. I have to say it's grown on me, and I'm going to miss it, it only took me three years to feel comfortable here. Hopefully it'll be quicker in NH. Moving during the summer will help I think, school too maybe, we'll see. It'll take me a while to get situated but hopefully I'll start posting again soon. Hope everybody is doing well and having a good summer. Talk to you soon.

Off to college

Some of you know this already but I got accepted to grad school at the University of New Hampshire. I applied to a bunch of schools, I didn't think I was going get in, and then I did, so now it's off to another adventure. New Hampshire is beautiful, what little I've seen of it.

Big decisions always make you wonder whether you're making the right choice. Actually though, I'm pretty excited, and feel really lucky. Boston's only a hr away, and I've met and talked to some of the grad students already, and they seem pretty cool. I'm not big on moving, I'm not sure anyone is, but I think shaking things up every once in a while can be good. I'm curious to see where this'll take me.

Canoe made from disposable chopsticks

I just found this on another blog named Pink Tentacle. What a cool idea.

A former city employee in the Fukushima prefecture town of Koriyama has built a 4-meter 13-ft long canoe from thousands of used disposable chopsticks recovered from the city hall cafeteria. Bothered that perfectly good wood was going to waste after a single use, Shuhei Ogawara — whose job at city hall involved working with the local forestry industry — spent the last two years of his career collecting used chopsticks from the cafeteria.
