pencils

I'm not super big on self portraits even though I've done a lot of them. Lots of things off in both of these, but it's all part of practice practice practice....

Drawing

I been playing around with drawing the landscape lately and drawing in general, and this is today's attempt, I've got a few more hrs on it. The idea is work things spatially, getting them to go back a come forward, erase and re-work , feeling around until you figure it out. I've only gotten to the lay-in stage so far, the rest is more thinking and re-examining.

Drawings

a couple of inks for a class assignment

Boston Trip

The grad students all (there's only 7 in the program) took a trip into Boston on Friday to check out the galleries on Newbury St. (the area for the more established galleries in Boston), it was a great day, and then we ended it getting to know the art faculty and having dinner at a professor's loft in Boston. Things are starting off well with school.

Parking at the ICA, a contemporary art museum in Boston

Riding the Subway

Eating Thai food with my fellow first years, Suzie and Dustin.

Two of the many galleries that we hit, we were supposed to do research about artists we were interested in and ask them to pull them for viewing. It worked really well and we saw a lot of great art.

We finished with the ICA, which has an amazing view of Boston harbor.

Gonzo

I just saw an amazing movie tonight about Hunter S. Thompson who wrote "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" among other things, and if you can still find it in a theater you should go check it out, I think you might be inspired.

Moving occupies your mind

So I've been absent of late, I'm moving to New Hampshire at the end of the month, and I'm getting caught up with all that entails. House hunting, sorting, packing, and saying my goodbyes to Baltimore. I have to say it's grown on me, and I'm going to miss it, it only took me three years to feel comfortable here. Hopefully it'll be quicker in NH. Moving during the summer will help I think, school too maybe, we'll see. It'll take me a while to get situated but hopefully I'll start posting again soon. Hope everybody is doing well and having a good summer. Talk to you soon.
