A few more quick ones. I did these the semester I came back from Canada. I was playing around with laying in local color and big simple shapes, then wiping out paint to describe light and form. I liked carving back into the work to create different layers. I'm most happy with the sense of light in some of these.

Euan Uglow

Another artist that's starting to be a big influence on my work, he has almost a geometric approach to the figure, and would sustain paintings for years. Uglow is part of the Slade school in the UK, where Lucien Freud and Frank Auerbach came out of as well. His teacher was William Coldstream, who was also an amazing painter, and it's easy to see the influence he had on Uglow.
